Abstract

This study examines the impact of new technology and pedagogies on the transformation of physics education in Nigeria, emphasizing the enhancement of educational outcomes and the promotion of sustainable development.  It analyses the obstacles encountered in physics education in Nigeria, such as inadequate infrastructure, a shortage of educators, outdated teaching methods, and diminished student engagement. The paper focuses on the efficacy of digital simulations, augmented reality, learning management systems, and mobile applications in improving physics education. It also examines innovative pedagogical methodologies, including inquiry-based learning, flipped classrooms, collaborative learning, gamification, and problem-based learning, as effective tactics for student engagement. The paper highlights the necessity of linking physics education with sustainable development goals, especially in domains like renewable energy, environmental monitoring, and engineering innovation. Recommendations for enhancing physics education in Nigeria include investments in educational technology, teacher training, public-private partnerships, curriculum change, and ongoing monitoring and evaluation. These initiatives are essential for providing students with the competencies required to engage in sustainable development and tackle global concerns.
